I consider the resulting videos to be truly significant in terms of teaching woodworking in a manner that is unsurpassed they are comprehensive , cohesive , consistent and entertaining . In addition , they have supporting content on the internet , all of which blends together to create an interactive product that has been unavailable until now . I also nearly had a nervous breakdown . How did this happen , you ask It’s a bit of a long story Nearly a dozen years ago I was in my office reading a book called The Accurate

Well , maybe it is but we’ll clear things up in a minute . American holly Illex opaca is native only to the United States but , since it closely resembled English holly to the Pilgrims , it quickly became the Americans’ symbol of Christmas . It was , and still is , found along the coast of Massachusetts and all the way down through the southeast to East Texas . It grows in the same geographic areas as the Southern yellow pines , but since it can’t tolerate fire , it is rarely found in those pine forests that are
‘Some folks carve their reputations, others just chisel and gouge.’ Chisels and gouges are two very important tools groups the first of which is a very common woodworking tool. A chisel as a flat blade to cut flat straight work and a gouge has a curved blade to cut curved and other shapes. Chisels [...]

Over on the Chris Schwarz blog, some of the people commenting on his review of Furniture in the Southern Style mentioned one of the photos in the introduction, and the reference to it being a misrepresentation of a ball and claw foot. I thought it would be a good idea to post the photo in [...]

Two-toned white oak with a dark brown dye stain for the main cabinets and clear gel varnish for the final top coat . There are 22 small item drawers 6 x6 x15 in the center and 4 larger drawers between the upper and lower outer cabinets . I used glass doors to add ever changing color to the kitchen and a flemish glass pattern to defuse the contents of the pantry portion of the cabinets . Clear glass was

The first photographist was an unknown itinerant American who shot a number of daguerreotypes of which 6 are in the collection of Yale University. He was in Mexico during the Mexican War in 1846-47 and using the ‘new’ photographic process introduced from Europe by Samuel F. B. Morse, the inventor of the Morse Code. General [...]
Cabinet Construction by J.C.S. Brough, 1920, 1930 Reprint by Toolemera Press Gary Roberts has brought another fine publication from the past to today’s market.
